Diosgenin is a steroidal sapogenin which is found in Disococera species (see below yam root, see Rhizoma Dioscoreae villosae - here up to 10%) and also in the seeds of fenugreek (Trigonella foenum graecum), in the rootstock(Asparagi rhizoma) of vegetable asparagus (Asparagus officinalis) and the white onion (Allium cepa).
