Marshmallow has a height of up to 1.5 metres and is approximately strong. The upright stem is tubular on the inside and has felty hairs on the outside, just like the leaves. The leaves are greyish-green and shiny, the flowers are pink with purple anthers. The lower leaves are triangular-heart-shaped and lobed, the upper ones look ovoid and lobed. The marshmallow flowers between July and September and is mainly found in south-east Europe and western Asia.
