SH-Decapeptide-7 is a synthetic peptide comprising 10 amino acids, structurally identical to the protein meta-encephalin.

SH-decapeptide-7 is used in cosmetic formulations. The compound acts as an antioxidant (prevents or delays the decomposition of active ingredients and excipients in extemporaneous formulations even in low concentrations), buffer substance (regulates and stabilizes the pH of cosmetic products), chelating agent (binds metal ions which could negatively influence the stability and quality of cosmetic products), hair conditioning agent (makes hair easy to comb, smooth, soft and shiny and gives it volume) and as skin protection (protects the skin from external influences).
