Betalactamase inhibitors are different drugs that are able to inhibit individual betalactamases . In most cases, betalactamase inhibitors are administered as a fixed combination, e.g. amoxicillin + clavulanic acid; ampicillin + sulbactam; piperacillin + tazobactam, ceftazidim + avibactam. Avibactam as a newer betalactamase inhibitor can even inhibit ampC-betalactamases as well as some carbapenemases.
