Federal ministry of health

At federal level, the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG) is responsible for all areas of the health care system. The Federal Minister of Health is responsible for the ordinances pending in the health sector.

The BMG has the official and technical supervision of the following authorities:

• Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) in Bonn
• Federal Centre for Health Education (BZgA) in Cologne
• German Institute for Medical Documentation and Information (DIMDI) in Cologne
• Paul Ehrlich Institute (PEI, Federal Institute for Vaccines and Biomedical Drugs) in Langen (Hesse)
• Robert Koch Institute (RKI, Federal Institute for Infectious and Noncommunicable Diseases) in Berlin

It has its headquarters or first office in the Federal City of Bonn and its second office in Berlin.
