Xanthome plane E28.28

Patchy, slightly raised, up to palm-sized, soft, yellowish, surface-smooth plaques. Manifestation as xanthelasma without dyslipidemia (see xanthomatosis, generalized, plane) and in hypercholesterolemia. They result from storage of cholesterol-rich LDL in macrophages of the oe'ber dermis.

Treatment of the underlying disease and surgical removal if necessary. See also Xanthelasma, Xanthomas, eruptive.

If the changes are more pronounced on the trunk, they are also called xanthelasma (xanthelasma) corporis.
