Salt fields, karlhanns

(¤ 1919, † 2007) Mycologist and pathologist, working in Frankfurt/Main, Cumaná and Mérida/Venezuela Field(s) of research: Mycoses, tropical mycoses, tropical diseases. Born in Großneuhausen near Sommerda in Thuringia; attended the humanistic grammar school in Erfurt, studied medicine in Munich, Jena and Frankfurt. State examination and doctorate there. Later military doctor at various theatres of war. After the 2nd World War training as a pathologist at the Senckenber`schen Anatomie in Frankfurt/Main. In 1951 he followed a call to the pathological institute in Cumaná and in 1958 to the pathological institute "Los Andes" in Mérida/Venezuela. Later on he gave extensive lectures on the topic "tropical mycoses and other tropical infectious diseases".
