(¤ 1869, † 1939) Dermatologist; trained at the Leipzig Dermatological Clinic. 1902 habilitation. 1917 Appointed director of the then new Polyclinic for Skin and Sexually Transmitted Diseases at the University of Göttigen, which was opened on 1.11.1917. Riecke's register of publications reflects a broad interest in the entire field of dermatology. He paid special attention to the side effects of all dermatological treatments. The dermatological disease spectrum of the Göttingen clinic at that time mainly comprised eczema, syphilis, gonorrhoea, scabies, lice infestation and fungal diseases. Riecke became emeritus in 1935; in the same year he moved to Leipzig where he died in 1939. His successor was Gottfried Walther Krantz, who was appointed by the Ministry of Culture of the Reich, contrary to suggestions to the contrary by the University of Göttingen.
