Koehler, hans

(¤ 1908, † 1973) Dermatologist, studied at the universities of Würzburg, Berlin and Gießen. 1933 Doctorate at the Dermatological Clinic Gießen.

Dermatological training under S. Bettmann in Heidelberg, WR Schultze in Jena and A. Jesionek in Gießen. 1940, in the middle of the 2nd world war, habilitation on the subject: "Work and skin". In 1944, after the removal of the early NSDAP member Hans Schultze from the clinic management, Koehler became the provisional director of the Giessen Skin Clinic until 1948. In 1949 under RM Bohnstedt again senior physician in Gießen. 1951 Appointment as an adjunct professor. In the same year, appointment as chief physician at the Municipal Dermatological Clinic Lübeck as successor to W. Leipold. 1965 first full professor at the dermatological clinic in Lübeck, which he was able to develop into a university institution during his tenure.

1958 Prof. Hans Koehler from Gießen was appointed Leipold's successor. In 1964, the "Krankenhaus Ost" received the status of a Medical Academy and became the 2nd Medical Faculty of the University of Kiel. Koehler thus became the first full professor for dermatology and venereology in Lübeck. His scientific focus was on skin physiology and occupational dermatoses.

After Koehler's sudden death in June 1973, the head physician PD Frowine Leyh, who in the meantime had come from Tübingen, took over the provisional leadership.

On November 1, 1974, Prof. Detlef Petzoldt from Munich was appointed as the new chair holder.
