Triticum vulgare germ oil (inci)

Triticum vulgare germ oil, the wheat germ oil, consists of the extract of wheat germligen (Triticum aestivum/vulgare). The oil, which is obtained for cosmetic purposes, can be extracted from the wheat germ buds by squeezing as well as by other methods (e.g. using solvents). Triticum vulgare germ oil is a pale yellow, viscous vegetable oil with a typical characteristic odour which has a long shelf life in cool and dark conditions.

Triticum vulgare germ oil is used in cosmetic formulations. The wheat germ oil acts as an emollient (makes the skin smooth and supple).
