Tallowdimonium propyltrimonium dichloride (inci)

" Tallow " means ingredients derived from animal tallow (bovine tallow ), "dimonium" means a quaternary dimethylammonium salt, "trimonium" means a quaternary trimethylammonium salt.
Tallowdimonium propyltrimonium dichloride is used in cosmetic formulations. The substance mixture acts as an emulsifier (surface-active substance which is used in cosmetic preparations as an additive to combine two immiscible liquids - e.g. oil and water - into an emulsion), surfactant (washing-active substance; improves the even distribution of the products during application), as a substance with cleansing effect and as an antistatic agent (reduces static charges by neutralizing the electrical charge on the surface, e.g. of hair).
