Stearylamidopropyl dimethylamine (inci)

"stearamidopropyl" means the propylamide of stearic acid (octadecanamide)

The substance mixture is used in cosmetic formulations. It acts as an emulsifier (surface-active substance which is used as an additive in cosmetic products to add 2 immiscible liquids - e.g. oil and water into one emulsion), surfactant (washing-active substance; improves the even distribution of the products during application), antistatic agent (reduces static charges by neutralizing the electrical charge on the surface, e.g. of hair) and as hair conditioning agent (makes the hair easy to comb, smooth, soft and shiny and gives it volume).
