Ppg-4-myristyl ether (inci)

PPG is the acronym for "polypropylene glycol", the polymer of propylene glycol (1,2-propanediol), a dihydric alcohol. The number after "PPG" indicates the average number of propylene glycol molecular units, for "PPG-4" this is 4 propylene glycol molecular units. "myristyl ether" denotes an ether (ether) compound of myristyl alcohol (tetradecanol)

PPG-4 myristyl ether is used in cosmetic formulations. The substance mixture acts as an emollient (makes the skin smooth and supple), emulsifier (surface-active substance which is used in cosmetic products as an additive to combine two immiscible liquids - e.g. oil and water - to form an emulsion).
