Ppg-2 isoceteth-20 acetates (inci)

PPG is the acronym for "polypropylene glycol", the polymer of pro isoceteth-20 pylene glycol (1,2-propanediol), a dihydric alcohol. The number after "PPG" indicates the average number of propylene glycol molecular units, for "PPG-2" this is 2 propylene glycol molecular units. "isoceteth-20" denotes a PEG ether of isocethyl alcohol. The number 20 for "isoceteth-20 acetate" indicates the average number of integrated polyethylene monomers "-CH2-CH2-O-".

PPG-2 isoceteth-20 acetate is used in cosmetic formulations. The mixture of substances acts as an emulsifier (surface-active substance which is used in cosmetic formulations as an additive to combine 2 immiscible liquids - e.g. oil and water - to form an emulsion).
