Potassium tallowate (inci)

"Potassium...' means the element potassium, 'tallowate' means salts/esters of fatty acids obtained predominantly from beef tallow.)

Potassium tallowate is used in cosmetic formulations. It acts as an antistatic agent (reduces static charges by neutralizing the electric charge on the surface, e.g. of hair), emulsifier (surface-active substance used in cosmetic products as an auxiliary agent to combine 2 immiscible liquids - e.g. oil and water - to form an emulsion) and as surfactant (washing-active substance; improves the even distribution of the products during application).
