Phellondendron amurense extract (inci)

Phellodendron amurense extract is the extract from the bark of Phellodendron amurense, the Amur cork tree, a deciduous tree of the rue family (Rutaceae) with growth heights of 15 to 25m. Phellondendron amurense is native to the Amur region, North China, Korea and Japan. The bark extract is used in cosmetic formulations. It has a skin caring effect (keeps the skin in good condition) and a strengthening effect (creates a pleasant feeling on skin or hair).

Bark extracts from Phellondendron chinense, the Chinese cork tree, are used in TCM. A WHO monograph exists for the indication "cools empty heat in case of yin deficiency".
