O-cymen-5-ol (inci)

o-Cymen-5-ol, also called 4-isopropyl-m-cresol, is an organic substance which is used in cosmetic formulations. The substance acts as a preservative (inhibits the development of microorganisms in cosmetic products and preserves them).
The general conditions for preservatives which may be used in cosmetic products are defined in the EC Cosmetics Regulation (1223/2009) Annex V.
