Mipa-laureth sulfate (inci)

MIPA-laureth sulfate (MIPA stands as an acronym for monoisopropanolamine an alkanolamine) is used in cosmetic formulations. The substance acts as a surfactant (washing-active substance) and cleansing agent (cleans the body surface).

The polyoxyethylene ethers of lauryl alcohol are called laureth (e) (for comparison see: cetethe as polyoxyethylene ether of cetyl alcohol; steareth as polyoxyethylene ether of stearyl alcohol and others).
Polyalkylene glycol ethers are non-ionic surfactantswhose lipophilic part consists of fatty alcohols (e.g. lauryl alcohol, palmitic alcohol, stearyl alcohols etc.) or their ester compounds. The hydrophilic part is formed by short-chain polyethylene glycols (polyoxyethylene).
