Melissa officinalis oil (inci)

Melissa officinalis oil is the essential oil of lemon balm, a herbaceous plant of the labiate family (see under lemon balm), which can grow up to 60 cm in size. When the leaves are rubbed in, a pleasant, intensive lemon aroma is released. Melissa officinalis oil, the essential oil is extracted from the leaves and flowering shoots of the plant by steam distillation.

Melissa officinalis oil is used in cosmetic formulations. The oil has a strengthening effect on the skin or hair, as well as a fragrance (reduces or inhibits the basic smell or taste of a product).
