Isoamyl alcohol (inci)

Isoamyl alcohol is a naturally occurring, colorless, only slightly water soluble alcohol with the molecular formula - C5H12O-, which is used in cosmetic formulations. The alcohol is soluble in organic solvents like ethanol, acetone, benzene, chloroform. It is formed in nature by degradation of the amino acid leucine by fermentation with yeasts.

Cosmetics: In cosmetic formulations it acts as a solvent for fats, oils and resins.
