Hamamelis virginiana distillate (inci)

Hamamelis virginiana distillate, the aqueous solution obtained by steam distillation from the freshly cut and partially dried twigs or leaves, as well as from the dried crushed bark of the stems of Hamamelis virginiana, the Virginian witch hazel.

Bark: >4% tannins, elagitannin, catechin derivatives, gallic acid

Leaves: tannins (gallotannins), flavonoids, essential oil

Hamamelis virginiana distillate is used in cosmetic preparations. The distillate has an astringent effect, thickens the skin surface; relieves discomfort on skin and scalp. It is also used as a skin care and hair conditioning agent (makes the hair easy to comb, smooth, soft and shiny and gives it volume).
