Garcinia cambogia extract (inci)

Garcinia Cambogia is the fruit extract of the Indian pumpkin (Garcinia gummi-gutta) which is used in cosmetic formulations as a skin care product.

Folk medicine uses extracts of Garcinia Cambogia as slimming agents. The efficacy adjusting ingredient is considered to be hydroxy citric acid, which is found in the fruits of the plant (Semwal RB et al. 2015). The effectiveness of the extract is controversial.
