Fatty acid amides

Fatty acid amides refers to carboxylic acid amides of fatty acids (carboxylic acid amides such as stearamide, oleamide). They are generally water-insoluble, soft, fat-like substances. They often still contain saturated amides as secondary components and the reaction of a fatty acid with ammonia is obtained.

Suitable fatty acids are for example octane, decane, dodecane, tridecane, tetradecane, 12-methyltridecane, pentadecane, 13-methyltetradecane, 12-methyltetradecane, hexadecane, 14-methylpentadecane, heptadecane, 15-methylhexadecane, 14-methylhexadecane, octadecane, iso-octadecane, Icosanoic, docosanoic and tetracosanoic acid and myristoleic, palmitoleic, hexadecadienic, delta-9-cis-heptadecenoic, oleic, petroselinic, vaccinic, linoleic, linolenic, gadoleic, gondoic, icosadienic, arachidonic, cetoleic, erucic, docosadienic and tetracosenic acid and ricinoleic acid

Also suitable are those derived from natural fats and oils such as cottonseed oil, coconut oil, peanut oil, safflower oil, maize oil, palm kernel oil, rapeseed oil, ricinus oil, olive oil, mustard seed, soya oil, sunflower oil and fatty acid mixtures derived from tallow, bone and fish oil.
