(¤ 1919, † 2003) Dermatologist. Born in Düsseldorf, school education there; dermatological training in Düsseldorf under Th. Schreus. After Düsseldorf, he worked at the university hospitals of Aachen and Cologne; full professorship in Cologne in 1957. Later, he became senior consultant in Frankfurt/Main under Franz Herrmann. 1969 to 1988 Chief Physician at the Dermatological University Clinic of the Free University of Berlin at Rudolf Virchow Hospital. Dermatological research: physiology and pathophysiology of the skin, pharmacodynamics and therapy of the cutaneous mediator systems. Günter Stüttgen is considered the nestor of vitamin A acid therapy of the skin.
