(¤ 1898, † 1977) Born in Hoechst am Main as the son of a dye chemist at the Höchst company. School education in Frankfurt; studied medicine at the JW-Goethe-University in Frankfurt/Main; 1922 doctorate with the topic: "Thymus radiation in psoriasis". Dermatological training with K. Herxheimer at the Dermatology Clinic of the University of Frankfurt. In 1928 habilitation with the topic: "On the functional disposition to poisoning". 1930 under Oscar Gans he continued as senior physician at this clinic. 1933 dismissal from the academic service of the university by the National Socialist regime. 1938 Emigration to London and later New York. Herrmann had to study again and take 3 additional examinations. Further training with GM MacKee and later M. Sulzberger. 1959 Call to the JW-Goethe-University Frankfurt/Main as a follower of his former teacher O. Gans. Scientific focus: biochemistry of the skin, the str. corneum, sebaceous and sweat gland secretion of the skin.
