- (¤ 20.8.1891, † 1969) Herrmann Werner Siemens was born in Charlottenburg/Berlin as the son of the technical director of Siemens&Halske AG. He studied medicine in Munich and Berlin. 1918 Doctorate on a topic in hereditary biology. Dermatological training with J. Jadassohn in Breslau and v. Zumbusch in Munich. 1927 Appointment as a full professor in Munich. 1929 appointment to the dermatological chair in Leiden. 1934 Call to the then largest dermatological university clinic in Leipzig. Due to an intervention of the "Reichsärzteführer" Gerhard Wagner, this position went to the scientifically completely insignificant Bodo Spiethoff (NSDAP party member since 1931!). During the Second World War Siemens took an active stand against National Socialism.
