Acquired or congenital (multiple) pigmentation of the skin and/or mucous membrane, which follow a certain distribution pattern in varying number, size and density (e.g. in chronically UV-exposed areas) or are diffusely expressed.
The manifestation on the skin and mucous membranes can be localized or generalized.
Syndromal connections with diseases of other organs may be present (see also Peutz-Jeghers syndrome, Leopard syndrome, Noonan syndrome, etc.)
