(¤ 1850, † 1902) Dermatologist, working in Innsbruck, Graz. Abitur 1867 in Vienna, 1873 doctorate, 1875-1880 assistant to Ferdinand v. Hebra in Vienna. Studies on pemphigus, chrysarobin, pyrrogallus acid as well as fine tissue examinations of various skin diseases. 1880 habilitation. Until 1887 director of the General Polyclinic in Vienna, 1888-1891 associate professor and director of the Dermatological Clinic in Innsbruck. 1892-1901 in succession to Eduard Lipp, associate professor and director of the dermatological clinic in Graz. 1901 appointed professor at the University of Graz. 1895, 7 years before the publication of Karl Herxheimer, first description of the (Jarisch) Herxheimer reaction. Died of typhoid fever in Graz on 20.3. 1902. His successor became Karl Kreibich.
