Triticum vulgare starch is the wheat starch which is obtained from the endosperm of the wheat grain. Wheat starch is a natural, organic, odourless and tasteless chemical compound of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen, which belongs to the polysaccharides and is obtained from the endosperm of the fruit.

Chemically, wheat starch consists of a non-uniform polysaccharide mixture of exclusively alpha-glycosidically linked D-glucose building blocks with the empirical formula: (C6H10O5) n. The number of building blocks ranges from 300-1000.

In cosmetic formulations wheat starch acts as an absorbent (absorbs finely dispersed substances) and as a viscosity regulator (increases or decreases the viscosity of cosmetic products).
