Lactua sativa extract is the leaf extract from the lettuce, a plant from the family of composite flowers. The extract contains malic acid, citric acid, oxalic acid, lactucin, lactucopicrin as well as glucocokinins, iron and vitamin A, vitamin B1, vitamin B2 and vitamin C.

Lactua sativa extract is used in cosmetic formulations. The extract soothes discomfort on skin and scalp, has a refreshing effect and reduces or inhibits the basic smell or taste of a product.
