Ratanhia is a plant of the genus Krameria from the Krameriaceae family, native to Bolivia and Peru. The plant grows to a height of 20 to 100 cm. Ratanhia has small leaves about 1 cm long. Its flowers are reddish-purple. The root system is pronounced and strong (about 5 to 10 cm thick). The root contains tannins and is used to treat inflammation in the mouth or in dental care products.
