If a doctor considers the use of a non-prescription medicine to be necessary, he or she can recommend this medicine on a so-called green prescription.
The so-called green prescription gives the patient the security to receive the correct medication in the pharmacy. On the other hand, it offers the possibility to get the costs reimbursed. Some health insurance companies (e.g. AOK Nordwest) reimburse up to 500 Euro per year!
