Hamamelis virginiana distillate is an aqueous solution obtained by steam distillation from the freshly cut and partially dried twigs or leaves, and from the bark of the stems of Hamamelis virginiana.
HMPC monograph: traditional-use:
- from leaves and bark: externally on the skin: for mild dermatitis and dryness of the skin, not recommended for children under 6 years of age.
- from twigs: for the eyes: relief of eye discomfort due to dryness of the eye, exposure to wind or sun, not recommended for children under 12 years of age.
