Term used in statistics as a benchmark in clinical trials. Stable disease refers to a clinical condition in which tumor extension has neither increased (no PD) nor decreased (no CR or PR). In asymptomatic or oligosymptomatic disease, SD is a good parameter for disease control and thus often for palliation.
