Inhibition of the effects of leukotrienes in terms of enhancement of inflammatory processes and increased mucus secretion. The cysteinyl leukotrienes are responsible for the inflammations, which in turn have a constricting effect on the airways and weaken the lung function (see below leukotriene receptor antagonist).
