The Freiburg Ethics Commission International (FEKI) is the first and oldest ethics commission organised under private law in Germany and was founded in 1980. The main focus of the feki is the evaluation of clinical studies according to the Medical Devices Act as well as non-interventional studies according to MPG §23b.

The FEKI carries out interdisciplinary assessments of clinical trials with and on humans under ethical, legal and medical-scientific aspects for the protection of the trial subjects - independent of the sponsors, the investigators and the institutions.
