(¤ 1817, † 1884) Zeissl was born on 22.10.1817 in Vierzighuben, a small village in Moravia. He studied medicine in Vienna. 1845 doctorate. Since 1845 student of Hebra in Vienna. 1850 habilitation. 1861 appointment as professor. 1869 Primarius (chief physician) at the II Syphilis Department of the General Hospital in Vienna. 1883 he was ennobled. His clinical work focused on syphilis.
