Gerhard Wagner (1888 - 1939) was Reichsärzteführer (medical leader) and in this office propagated and promoted a "New German Medicine". At a medical congress in 1935 he said: "We are striving, in a word, for the synthesis of the hitherto one-sided orthodox medicine with the natural method of treatment. We reject the extremists and fanatics of both directions. Neither of them can claim to have sole blessing methods".
