Frequent skin diseases which have a significant clinical, therapeutic and differential diagnostic significance. Basically only 3 groups of viruses are able to infect the skin:

  • Human papillomaviruses
  • Herpes viruses (herpes simplex virus, varicella zoster virus)
  • Smallpox viruses (paravaccinia virus, parapox viruses)
