Subcorneal pustular dermatosis is a subgroup of IgA pemphigus. Histologically there are subcorneal pustules, rarely acantholysis. The cause is IgA antibodies whose target antigen is desmocollin 1. An association with monoclonal IgA gammopathy (see below paraproteinemia, skin changes) has been described in 20% of SPD variants.
