(¤ 6.11.1870, † 1934) The American dermatologist Schamberg was born in Philadelphia, USA. Graduated from high school there; in 1892 he received a medical doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania. Training with Louis Adolphus Duhring. In 1894 he opened a dermatological practice in Philadelphia. In 1910 he was a professor at Temple University in Philadelphia, and in 1920 he became a professor at the previously founded medical faculty of the University of Pennsylvania. In 1901 Schamberg was the "first describer" of Purpura pigmentosa progressiva, which is also named after him as M. Schmaberg. However, this clinical picture was already described as Purpura anularis teleangiectodes in 1896 by the Italian dermatologist Domenico Majocchi, Domenico, who worked in Parma and Bologna.
