Gustav Riehl was born in Vienna, spent part of his childhood in Leipzig and later in Vienna (his father Gustav Riehl was full professor of dermatology there). 1926 dermatological training with Leopold Arzt/Vienna. 1932 habilitation. In 1932 he was appointed head of the skin department at the Vienna General Polyclinic. In 1933 he took over the management of an outpatient clinic of the Vienna Regional Fund. After the resignation of Gabor Nobl in 1936, his department was merged with his own. In 1946 Riehl was appointed head of the department for lupus patients at the Wilhelminenspital/Vienna. Field(s) of research: Skin tuberculosis, infectious diseases of the skin.
