Circumscripts or diffuse keratinization disorder of the epidermis with the appearance of nuclear residues in the stratum corneum. A parakeratosis results from an acceleration of epidermopoiesis (e.g. psoriasis vulgaris) or from an incorrect maturation of the keratinocytes (e.g. M. Bowen). Circumscript parakeratosis is hill-like (e.g. in guttate psoriasis or microbial eczema, here with included serum residues), chimney-shaped (e.g. in Mibelli porokeratosis) or diffuse (e.g. in vulgar psoriasis or in neoplastic epithelial processes).
