(¤ 1.10.1879,  1921) The German dermatologist Felix Lewandosky was born in Hamburg as the son of a Jewish merchant. He studied medicine in Berlin, Hamburg and Strasbourg. Doctorate in 1902. 1903-1907 dermatological assistant to Joseph Jadassohn in Bern. 1908 Opening of a dermatological practice in Hamburg. Until 1917 scientific studies with Eduard Arning at St. Georg Hospital in Hamburg. In 1917 Lewandosky, although not habilitated, received a call to succeed Bruno Bloch at the University Dermatological Clinic in Basel. In May 1918 he was appointed full professor. 1913 First description of the "rosaceiform tuberculide". 1922 together with Wilhelm Lutz first description of the epidermodysplasia verruciformis named after Lewandowski and Lutz. In October 1921, Lewandowsky died at the age of 42 as the result of a colon carcinoma. His successor in Basel was Wilhelm Lutz.
