Histological term for fragmentation of leukocytes by karyorrhexis; this results in small particulate nuclear fragments (nuclear dust). Leukocytoclasia is a pioneering phenomenon of leukocytoclastic vasculitis, but also occurs in other, etiologically completely different diseases, such as acute febrile neutrophilic dermatosis, dermatitis herpetiformis and granuloma anulare. Leukocytoclasia is also found in lymphocytic infiltrates, e.g. in lupus erythematosus profundus and in pseudolymphomas.
