(¤ 1908, † 1980) Born in Boulogne s/S near Paris; school education in Berlin; studied medicine in Jena and Berlin. Dermatological training with Wilhelm Richter at the Klinikum Berlin-Ziegelstraße. Doctorate in 1935. When Richter was appointed to the chair in Greifswald (successor to Walther Schönfeld) in 1935, Hartung followed him there, and in 1941 he received his habilitation there. In 1948 he succeeded Gustav Stümpke, chief physician at the Municipal Skin Clinic Hannover-Linden. 1953 foundation of a climatotherapy department on Norderney. Its head became Wolfgang Pürschel. After the founding of the Hanover Medical School, Hartung was offered the chair of dermatology and venereology. Scientific focus: General clinical dermatology, climatotherapy, questions of biometry.
