  • (¤ 1901,  1979) Dermatologist. Born in Halle, he received his dermatological training in Marburg, Munich and Halle. 1932 habilitation. Grüneberg was denied the full professorship by the National Socialist regime because of a Jewish great-grandfather. Dismissed from the academic service of the university, he was able to practice first in Berlin and later in Halle. In 1949 he was appointed to the chair of dermatology and allergology in Halle, where he worked until 1967.
  • Grüneberg was a popular university lecturer. His scientific focus was on syphilis, tuberculosis, sarcoidosis, psoriasis, skin carcinomas and melanoma. In 1933 he succeeded in proving the anti-inflammatory effect of an extract of adrenal cortex.
