(¤ 19o5, † 1997) Leon Goldman was born on 7 December 1905 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Studied medicine at the University of Cincinnati; graduated in 1929. Dermatological training at the local skin clinic. In 1932, he went to Zurich to study dermatology with Bruno Bloch and to the Guy's Hospital in London. The following year he returned to the Dermatology Department in Cincinnati. 1937 Specialist examination in dermatology and venerology. 1947 Appointed Director of the Dermatology Department in Cincinnati. In the following years he developed this department into an efficient institution. His scientific interests were contact dermatitis and fever therapy for neurosyphilis. Early on he conducted research in the field of corticosteroids. At the age of 55, he discovered for himself the completely new field of research of LASER technology for medicine. In 1961 he founded the first laser laboratory at his university. He has gone down in medical history as the "father of dermatological laser surgery". Leon Goldman died in California on December 2, 1997 at the age of 92.
