(¤ 1802,  1861) French doctor and syphilis researcher, Paris. Jean Giraudeau named himself "de Saint-Gervais" after his birthplace. In 1825 he was appointed doctor of medicine in Paris. Giraudeau was mainly concerned with the diagnosis and therapy of syphilis. In 1828 he acquired the property rights to the anti-syphilitic "Rob Boyveau-Laffecteur", with which he operated a lucrative special practice for syphilis and a no less lucrative trade throughout the world. Proksch announces that Giraudeau published the work of J.G. Human of 1838 (Nosographie des maladies veneriennes) under his name as "Traité des maladies syphiliques" and that this work is therefore a "tedious plagiarism", increased by his portrait and 5 plates!
