Acronym for"cluster of differentiation 5". CD5 is a receptor protein, a member of the superfamily of signal transducing, cysteine-rich scavenger receptors (SRCR) class I. CD5 is encoded by the eponymous CD5 gene (CD5 molecule) located on chromosome 11q12.2.

CD5 is used diagnostically as a marker for: mature T cells, T cell lymphomas and thymocytes.

Furthermore, the antibody marks a subunit of B cells (B-CLL, mantle cell lymphoma). CD5-positive diffuse large B-cell lymphomas (CD5+ DLBCL) are associated with poorer survival.
